The modern era of music has given way to enigmas and artists of all shapes and forms who break the norm of what we have come to expect as far as what an artist truly is. FL Jones is one such artist that epitomizes the essence of the modern era. A multi-talented vocalist and musician originally from Beaufort South Carolina. FL Jones is an educator and entrepreneur who owns a professional development and coaching company by day, and goes by the alter ego moniker of FL Jones as a professional recording artist. FL Jones is making music that is thoughtful, conscious and driven by a desire to motivate, inspire, comfort and spread love and joy to all those that hear it.
A Veteran of the United States Marine Corps, his journey began when he landed a leading role in the Australian company of the legendary musical, “Rent.” This led to numerous performances on Australia’s largest morning television program, as well as a Rolling Stone Australia interview and photo shoot. He then returned to the US and following performances in New York at venues such as the Jazz Standard, Sullivan’s Hall, the Bitter End and the Cutting Room he eventually transitioned into recording his own music. This period of evolution led to the growth of FL Jones’s creativity and undeniable talent. He has ultimately developed a style of songwriting and performance that is transparent, daring and full of hope and reflective of his experiences, thought and ambitions, turning his pain and passion into purpose and lessons into studio sessions.
FL Jones has had a vast array of musical influences however he accredits the pivotal influences in his music to Prince, Stevie, Funkadelic, House music, Soul music, Sting, The Police, Bowie, Coltrane and World Music. This all culminates in FL Jones producing a musical experience that is enjoyable, easy going and fun but still seeks to provoke thought. FL Jones uses his music as a vehicle to express his perspectives and tell stories. His overarching ambition is to leave everyone a little happier and more inspired than they were before. FL also scored the feature film, “200 American” and served as a composer and music supervisor on the films “Whirlwind” “Raw Moves.”, and most recently “Naked As We Came In”. He also formed the band Adult Entertainment where he met his guitarist and now label partner Nahuel Franco. Together with Nahuel and Karo Moralyan, the trio formed FNK Records.
FL Jones has 2 official projects in his repertoire “Becoming Myself” (Album) and “Love Someone” EP. Both projects found success with his debut album garnering a semi-finalist nomination for “best new artist” on SoulTracks.com along with his Sophomore Project, blurring the lines between pop, rock and funk. He will be releasing his latest EP “Revival” on the 13th of February 2021. This project will showcase his lyricism in a uniquely constructed piece of musical artistry. His music exhibits not only his versatility and vocal prowess, but has surely cemented his style and paved the way for the varied expressions of his musical ideas and artistic craft. This is the music that will push the boundaries of our perception as well as inspire and drive us to introspective conversations.
